Google I/O 2026 was abuzz with groundbreaking innovations, and we’re thrilled to share the top highlights from the event! From revolutionary AI models to intelligent tools designed to enhance productivity and creativity, we’ve been working tirelessly to push the boundaries of what’s possible. These advancements aim to transform how you build, search, create, discover, shop, and ultimately, get more done in your daily life.
For those who prefer a concise overview, we’ve compiled the most impactful announcements, launches, and demos. You can always dive deeper into the full I/O announcements, including an edited transcript of Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s stage remarks. But for a quick digest of what’s next, here’s our annual list of key highlights.
Introducing Gemini 3.5 Flash: Speed Meets Frontier Intelligence
A major reveal at I/O 2026 was the launch of Gemini 3.5 Flash, the first in our newest series of models that masterfully combines cutting-edge intelligence with actionable capabilities. This model is now generally available via our agent-first development platform, Google Antigravity, and accessible through the Gemini API in both Google AI Studio and Android Studio.
Gemini 3.5 Flash delivers intelligence that rivals larger, flagship models, but at the incredible speeds you’ve come to expect from the Flash series. It significantly outperforms Gemini 3.1 Pro on challenging coding and agentic benchmarks, achieving impressive scores like 76.2% on Terminal-Bench 2.1, 1656 Elo on GDPval-AA, and 83.6% on MCP Atlas. This positions 3.5 Flash in the top-right quadrant of the Artificial Analysis index, proving that you no longer have to sacrifice quality for speed.
This model is perfectly suited for complex, long-horizon agentic tasks. What once took developers days or auditors weeks can now be accomplished in a fraction of the time, often at less than half the cost of other frontier models. Gemini 3.5 Flash rapidly plans, builds, and iterates to solve real-world problems, from developing new applications and maintaining codebases to assisting with financial document preparation.
Building on the robust multimodal foundation of Gemini 3, 3.5 Flash also generates richer, more interactive web UIs and graphics. We’re also making significant progress on Gemini 3.5 Pro, which is already in internal use and slated for release next month. Additionally, Gemini Omni is our innovative new model capable of creating anything from any input, starting with video outputs. It merges Gemini’s intelligence with our best generative media models for unparalleled world understanding, multimodality, and editing capabilities, promising to transform any input into any output over time.

The Future of Search: Intelligent Agents and Personalized Experiences
Our most powerful AI Search, AI Mode, has now surpassed 1 billion monthly users, with queries more than doubling every quarter since its launch. We’re upgrading this experience with Gemini 3.5 Flash as the new global default model, ensuring even faster and more intelligent results.
We’ve also unveiled the biggest upgrade to our Search box in over 25 years. This new, intelligent Search box is reimagined with AI, allowing you to search using text, images, files, videos, and Chrome tabs, and Search intelligently reasons across all of them. The enhanced experience brings AI Overviews and AI Mode together into one seamless AI Search, letting you flow effortlessly from a question to a results page with an AI Overview, and then to a follow-up in AI Mode, all with links to learn more. This seamless AI Search experience is live today across desktop and mobile, worldwide.
We’re entering the era of Search agents, where you can easily create, customize, and manage multiple AI agents directly within Search for various tasks. We’re starting with information agents that operate 24/7 in the background to keep you updated on any topic, task, or project. These agents intelligently monitor the web, including blogs, news sites, social posts, and real-time financial, shopping, and sports data, to provide synthesized updates and actionable insights. You’ll be able to deploy multiple information agents this summer, initially for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Leveraging Google Antigravity and Gemini 3.5 Flash’s agentic coding capabilities, Search can now build custom generative UIs on the fly, tailored precisely to your query. This means Search can design custom layouts and assemble interactive visuals, tables, graphs, or simulations in real-time to help you better understand complex topics. Generative UI with Antigravity will roll out to Search for everyone, free of charge, this summer.
For ongoing tasks like wedding planning or managing a home move, Search goes a step further by helping you build entire custom experiences, such as dashboards or trackers, like mini-apps. These custom experiences, powered by Antigravity, will be available in Search in the coming months, starting with subscribers. Additionally, we’re expanding Personal Intelligence in AI Mode to nearly 200 countries and territories across 98 languages, with no subscription required. This feature allows you to securely connect apps like Gmail and Google Photos (and soon Google Calendar), with transparency, choice, and control always at its core.
Transforming Shopping and Personal Assistance with AI
Get ready for the Universal Cart, your new intelligent shopping hub on Google. This innovative cart allows you to add items while browsing Search, chatting with Gemini, watching YouTube, or even reading Gmail. Once an item is added, your cart instantly starts working for you, finding deals, tracking price drops, providing price history insights, and alerting you when products are back in stock. Running on our Gemini models, the Universal Cart gets smarter as the models evolve, using intelligent reasoning to anticipate your needs and solve problems proactively. It will flag product incompatibilities, suggest alternatives, and even help you choose payment methods based on your perks, loyalty information, and merchant offers, thanks to its integration with Google Wallet.
The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) ensures a super smooth checkout experience directly from your cart. For many popular brands, you can check out right on Google in just a few taps with Google Pay, or seamlessly transfer items to the retailer’s site. The Universal Cart will roll out across Search and the Gemini app this summer, with YouTube and Gmail to follow.
Meet Gemini Spark, your 24/7 personal AI agent designed to navigate your digital life and take action on your behalf, even when your devices are off. Built on Gemini 3.5 and the Google Antigravity platform, Spark operates autonomously under your direction, always seeking your confirmation before major actions. Currently, in early testing, Spark will soon be available in Beta for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., with a packed roadmap of features planned for the summer. Future updates include texting or emailing Spark directly, creating custom sub-agents, and authorizing payments with specified budgets and merchants.
Finally, we’re introducing Daily Brief, a new out-of-the-box agent that organizes and prioritizes your day. Gemini works overnight, analyzing your inbox, calendar, and tasks to create a concise, insightful, and personalized digest that anticipates your needs and suggests next steps. Daily Brief learns over time, remembering your preferences and connecting the dots across your life. It’s rolling out today to all Google AI subscribers (18+) in the Gemini app in the U.S., provided they have connected their Google apps.
