Currently, users must rely on card payments or the billing systems of Apple and Google’s app stores, unlike OpenAI, which introduced Indian rupee pricing for ChatGPT alongside full UPI support last August.

Anthropic’s new localized pricing for Claude aims to offer more transparent and regionally relevant costs. On Claude’s website in India, the Claude Pro subscription is now listed at ₹2,000 per month when billed annually, which is approximately $21. This compares to a monthly rate of $17 in the U.S., reflecting local market dynamics and included taxes.

For more advanced users, Claude Max begins at ₹11,999 per month in India, roughly equivalent to $125, compared to $100 in the U.S. Similarly, Team plans are now available starting from ₹2,399 per seat per month, around $25, whereas the U.S. equivalent is $20. It’s important to note that all Indian prices already incorporate local taxes, and slight variations might be observed between website and mobile app pricing.

Anthropic’s Expanding Footprint in India

The company officially opened an office in Bengaluru in February, a move first announced last October, cementing its physical presence in India’s tech hub. While access to Fable 5 has since been reinstated, Mythos 5 remains restricted for international users.
