Both cases provide similar trifold capabilities and come in comparable color options. ESR’s case further enhances usability with a magnetic tab to securely hold your stylus. It’s a no-frills, budget-friendly option that I love using, especially when I travel and need the slimmest possible protection. There, its main task is to efficiently charge my iPad, Kindle, and a host of other gadgets. The built-in retractable USB-C cable is a game-changer, eliminating worries about broken or lost cords and making routine charging a seamless experience. While many adapters exist, I wholeheartedly recommend one that includes this convenient retractable cable, especially for your iPad.
The Keyboard Quandary: Is Apple’s Best Worth It?
At a hefty $269, Apple’s Magic Keyboard is undoubtedly a significant investment. Crucially, you don’t necessarily need this specific keyboard case to maximize your iPad Air’s functionality. I’ve successfully used keyboard cases from brands like ESR and Logitech, which perform admirably and are substantially more affordable.
However, among all the options I’ve tried, Apple’s Magic Keyboard is undeniably the best fit for the iPad Air. It offers a snug fit, is lighter than many competitors, and boasts more advanced features. With recent iPadOS upgrades, it now provides an experience that more closely mirrors a MacBook than ever before.
Despite its superior performance, I still don’t recommend the Magic Keyboard to anyone who won’t be using a keyboard daily; cheaper alternatives will serve you just as well. But for those who demand the absolute best pairing for their iPad Air, this is it. For frequent users, the cost-per-use over time will eventually justify the initial expense of this premium accessory.
